Hello Spring!! This year’s winter was extra hard for my little family and I am so happy to see the Spring weather and all the spring maternity pictures that come along with it. Starting with Kayla’s ring maternity pictures at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello grounds. You have seen Kayla on my blog with her adorable family a few times before and now that their family is growing by another little bundle. I am so happy she chose to document this milestone with spring maternity pictures.
Normally when I am booking a maternity session there are two options. A family-based session where you include dad and any siblings in the portraits. But there are also the ones like Kayla’s where I focus solely on momma and all her glowing beauty. Now I love getting to include the whole family, but there is something a tad extra special about papering just momma for a few hours.
When Kayla first reached out to me for maternity portraits, it was clear these images were going to be full of spring flowers! We talked for weeks back and forth on location possibilities. We talked about Skyline Drive, the UVA lawn, we even considered some river portraits. But once Monticello came to mind, it was clear we had a winner! Have you ever visited Monticello in the Spring? It is BEAUTIFUL! We started in the blooming gardens with the most bold in color peonies and beautiful purple hydrangeas.
But can we please talk about possibly one of my favorite maternity outfits of all time??? I mean look at how beautiful Kayla is in her 8th month and those overalls!! Once we settled on Monticello for her spring maternity photos I think Kayla really knocked it out of the park with planning her outfit choices.
Here are a few of my favorite images from our spring maternity pictures session together last spring.
