Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This blog is all about an in-home couple session I photographed in Charlotte, North Carolina—a final farewell to a couple’s first home. Two newlyweds invited me to document their story, one last time before handing over the keys.
You may recognize them from their Charlottesville wedding last October, but this time, we traded vows and mountain views for quiet kitchens and everyday rituals. They’re selling their first home—the one where they learned to live and love under the same roof. It’s where wine glasses clinked after long days, where the laundry room doubled as a date spot, and the front steps held everything from morning coffee to hard conversations. It wasn’t just four walls—it was their beginning.
This kind of session is why I do what I do. An in-home couple session invites you to relax into your real life—your rhythms, routines, and quiet moments of connection. You don’t have to dress up or drive out to golden hour. You just have to be.
Throughout our time together, I watched them move through their home with a soft ease—laughing, teasing, hugging in doorways, and dancing by the sofa. We popped wine, stirred cookie dough, kissed between cabinet doors. They held each other on the stairs like they always do. And I just quietly followed along.
Document the Chapters That Matter Most
This is what documentary-style photography is for. Not just the big milestones, but the soulful little chapters that shape them. Chapters like selling your first home. Saying goodbye to a space that watched you grow together.
I travel to Charlotte a few times a year, and I’d love to document your story too—whether you’re saying hello to a new space or goodbye to an old one. There’s beauty in both.
