Ashley + Brian | Surprise Proposal
Bears Den Overlook | Bluemount, VA
Ashley knew that something was up. She and Brian were taking a simple hike up the mountain the morning of July 4th for just the beauty of it. Of course, topping the mountain overlook to find overnight campers, and a senior photography session taking place was no surprise to Ashley. But little did she know, they were just a few moments away from one of the biggest moments of their lives!
After a few moments taking in the beautiful view, Brian decided it was time for a selfie together out on the main edge of the overlook. Both Ashley & Brian being very fitness-oriented this was nothing unusual. But as they arrived on the spot and Brian hugged and kissed Ashley one last time as his girlfriend. As soon as he started to say all the painstakingly thought out words that went along with the proposal Ashley started to cry. I mean Brian wasn’t even down on his knee yet and all we could hear is “Why are you already crying?” That was it our Q to turn the cameras fully on the moment as Brian pulled the ring from his pocket and got down on one knee. Even though she was suspicious, his proposal caught her totally off-guard.
The weekend before this Dusty & I along with Brian made a secret journey up to the lookout to scout and set a plan in place to make this one special surprise for Ashley. As we climbed the mountain with every twist and turn, inclines and rock covered paths Brian told us the story of his original proposal plan, how COVID-19 messed it all up, how Ashley wanted this more than ever and of his love for her. Needless to say, we felt a deep connection with Ashley before we even met her!
That morning together really opened my eyes to their love and commitment to each other even in these trying times we sit in during this world pandemic.
You two are a real inspiration! The way you both reacted to each other during the proposal and engagement mini-session afterward was beyond wonderful. Ashley, your joy permeated the entire session, and your laughter was contagious! Brian, your months of careful planning clearly paid off, and everything came together perfectly! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your proposal weekend, and that we see you both again soon!
With love,
Erica + Dustin
