I love that my chosen career has taken me to photographing some great couples around the DMV area. Couples regularly request to have DC Cherry Blossom engagement photos taken in late March. This was the first  year where I braved the Tidal Basin during the DC Cherry Blossom Festival on peak bloom day one. Getting to take in Peak Bloom is definitely an experience every photographer should get to experience! Nevertheless Cherry Blossom engagement photos are really some of the most sought after and beautiful images DC photographers produce. Basically during the week of Peak Bloom you can bet on finding hundreds of photographers around the Tidal Basin.

The earlier in the day you can schedule your engagement session the best chance you have of beautiful lighting and less photo bombers. Not surprisingly Alycia and Jim chose sunrise for their Cherry Blossom Engagement Session. Firstly our morning started at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial which is located right on the Tidal Basin. Where you will find the best mixture of Cherry Blossoms meanwhile you can find these trees all over the city but not where you can also find direct views of DC monuments.

Since I always arrive insanely early to grab a parking spot I was a little concerned this day. When I arrived so early in the morning, Ohio Drive was still closed off. Then after a few laps around the monuments I found a nearly empty street. Straightaway after parking made my way over to the MLK Memorial to wait for Alycia and Jim. Shortly after getting to watch the sunrise over Jefferson Memorial We quickly got to making beautiful images. We were greeted with the most beautiful Spring weather, with a light wind. With Jim in a dapper blue suit and a cherry blossom print tie, he complimented Alycia’s cherry blossom pink dress.

We spent the next hour wandering together stopping countless times to snap photos with some unique and beautiful blooms. Alycia and Jim are going to be married this November at the Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion, in Chevy Chase, MD.
