Megan and Alex were married at the base of a beautifully hand-crafted cross on their family’s Cumberland homestead last September. I love getting to photograph weddings wrapped in so much love and unity with both friends and family at the center of it all. Megan and Alex’s day was the perfect example.
Megan’s parents purchased the property where they chose to take their forever vows a few years back by Megan’s parents. They plan to use it as their retirement property: the place they would happily live out their days in peace, surrounded by beauty. After visiting their homestead before the wedding, it was obvious why Megan, Alex, and their pup Croix love it there!
Can I say, may we all be so lucky to have the type of family that would rearrange their plans/schedules to build (from nothing) a full barn to house your wedding reception in (my opinion) record time! That’s right. When I went by for the site visit their reception barn was just the outer sticks! I remember scrolling through Instagram a few weeks later and seeing where Megan posted about the barn being completed and all ready for their wedding day.
In the last year I have had a crazy increase in Friday wedding requests and I LOVE IT! But there was also something a bit more special about this Friday wedding request… It was also my Birthday! Yep, I’m that crazy woman that is absolutely happy to work on my birthday as long as I get to do a job I love.
A few of my favorite parts of this day were first, getting to shoot alongside my life long bestie from Aurelia Studios (Ashley). Second, the weather, it was a perfect high of 71 and full sunshine. Last, I got to be a part of another beautiful love story that was centered around the abundance of love between two soulmates!
I’ve got to photograph a few weddings at home this year. See them here.
