Khadeeja and Mohamad’s Maryland wedding was the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary. These two traveled in from New Jersey to host their Muslim reception at this stunning mosque, the Diyanet Center of America, just outside the D.C. limits. Their friends and family members came from all over. From the US and abroad to celebrate the start of their happy life together.
The weather was amazing! I remember Khadeeja and I having a chat on the phone about a month before. We talked about the amazing architecture of the Mosque, the traditional history, and of course our hopes for a snow cover campus. But we had no such luck. The weather was a beautiful 65 degrees with full over casting skys. IDEAL weather for a wedding day, with one small hiccup right as we finished the first look and we starting the couples portraits it started to lightly rain. Khadeeja was a trooper, as we trucked on through the drizzle to make sure we captured the images on campus that would fill the walls of their home for the next 50 years.
Khadeeja and Mohamad did not have an SBC traditional wedding you would normally see here on our blog but instead their day was planned to celebrate with their family. In September of 2019 together with just their parents, the two joined their lives in a private wedding ceremony in New Jersey. Khadeeja wore a beautiful and traditional dress full of color and life. For their Maryland reception, Khadeeja choose to wear a very modist but stunning white wedding gown with a full-length veil. something I never tire of photographing!
The couple was welcomed into there reception by a traditional processional of a Dubke dance. WOW what an amazing sight to witness! Their night was filled with love, and tradition that was the perfect start to 2020 for me!
