There’s something truly magical about watching two people step into a new chapter—especially when you’ve already seen their love story begin. Amanda and Eric’s maternity session at Libby Hill Park was the perfect mix of sweet anticipation, downtown charm, and genuine joy.
We met up in late February, just two weeks before baby Grant made his entrance into the world. The air still had a soft chill, but Richmond’s iconic skyline provided the perfect warm glow. Nestled at the top of Libby Hill, the park offered beautiful simplicity—rolling hills, wide open space, and that unbeatable city view. It was such a peaceful setting for this exciting milestone.
I first met Amanda and Eric last spring when I photographed their wedding at The Barns at Mattaponi Springs. Even then, their connection was full of laughter, ease, and warmth. Seeing them again—this time just weeks away from becoming parents—was incredibly special. You could feel how ready and excited they were to welcome their little one.
Their maternity session also marked the beginning of their Motherhood Membership series, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to start. These two are a joy to photograph—kind, relaxed, and just so in love with each other and the life they’re building.
Amanda, as always, styled her look effortlessly. Her soft blue dress moved beautifully in the breeze, and it perfectly complemented the clean, natural tones of the park. One of my favorite touches was a sweet little coffee-themed onesie they brought along from their baby shower. It felt like such a fun nod to who they are as a couple and future parents.
We kept things relaxed—some walking, some snuggles, and a lot of happy smiles. The quiet of the park combined with their energy made the entire session feel like a celebration of what’s to come.
Maternity sessions aren’t just about the bump—they’re about pausing in the in-between. That window of time when everything is about to change, but you’re still just you two. For Amanda and Eric, this session was a chance to soak it all in: the calm before the newborn whirlwind, the joy of a baby on the way, and the beauty of being on this journey together.
If you’re expecting and wondering if a maternity session is worth it—this is your sign. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, this season of life deserves to be captured with warmth, intention, and a little bit of magic.
