Lucy and Cavin’s Silverbrook Farm wedding in Hillsboro, VA, was a celebration filled with joy, laughter, and the warmth of family and friends. From the moment I arrived at the picturesque venue, I could feel the excitement in the air. Silverbrook Farm, with its breathtaking mountain views and charming stone details, was the perfect backdrop for this special day.
The day began with Lucy getting ready in the beautiful bridal suite. Lucy surrounded herself with her mom and bridesmaids: her sister, a friend from elementary school, and three friends from college. She wore a stunning zip-up dress with a beautiful train for the ceremony. She adorned the dress with her grandmother’s handkerchief, necklace, earrings, and her great-grandmother’s ring. These heirlooms added a sentimental touch that truly highlighted the importance of family in their celebration.
Cavin and his groomsmen, lifelong friends who played baseball together, prepared in another part of the venue. The excitement and camaraderie among them were palpable as they shared stories and laughter.
The ceremony took place outdoors, with a stunning mountain view as the backdrop. At 4:00 PM, Lucy’s father walked her down the aisle, a moment that was both emotional and heartwarming. They chose not to have a first look, sticking to tradition. This made the moment Cavin saw Lucy walking toward him all the more special. The ceremony, officiated by a great childhood friend of Cavin’s, was a beautiful blend of heartfelt vows and joyous moments. My favorite moment was the rose petal toss during the recessional.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with light appetizers and refreshing drinks. The reception area was beautifully decorated with blue and white vases, creating an elegant garden party atmosphere. The reception was designed to be relaxed, with cornhole games outside and plenty of seating for guests to mingle.
One of my favorite moments was capturing the bride and groom’s first dance. Lucy and Cavin chose “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton. Their choreographed dance, complete with dips and lifts, was a highlight of the evening. The DJ kept the energy high, inviting all couples to join the floor after their first dance, ensuring the celebration continued with momentum.
The reception was a delightful blend of tradition and fun. The couple used Family recipes for the cakes, adding a personal touch to the dessert table. They scattered disposable cameras throughout the reception and cocktail hour, encouraging guests to capture candid moments and create lasting memories. Light-up foam sticks and other dance floor accessories added to the festive atmosphere, culminating in a grand exit that was as vibrant and joyful as the couple themselves.
Lucy and Cavin’s Silverbrook Farm wedding was a testament to their enduring love and the strong bonds they share with family and friends. Their story, from meeting through friends to enduring long-distance, and finally celebrating their union, was an honor to capture.
As a photographer, being part of such a joyous and love-filled day is truly a privilege. Congratulations, Lucy and Cavin, on your incredible wedding day and the beautiful future ahead!
