Alena and Dylan’s whimsical backyard wedding in Virginia was the picture of PERFECTION! With a clear image in mind Alena was able to plan their dream wedding in about a year and come in under budget. The couple knew from the start they wanted to Alena’s parents’ home into their wedding venue. So along with the help of her mom and dad Alena was able to turn the backyard into a whimsical and magical wedding location for the best day!
You may remember seeing Alena and Dylan recently on my blog from when I shared their engagement photos. Looking back on that session now still brings all the warm feelings back. I absolutely loved photographing they love story all around the property. Then to return just 9 months later to all the land projects we had chatted about at that session had come together and it was so fun to be back and see how Alena’s parents had transformed their dream home into the perfect wedding venue.
One of the coolest things about a planning a backyard wedding is the ability to make it whatever you want! Alena and Dylan took full advantage of this. They incorporated many personal touches on their day, like having their two sweet pups as flower girls. Or when the first toast given at dinner was by Alena’s parents.
The couple thought of everything when planning their day. Starting with a rented clear tent for the dinner under the stars and a magical pole tent for the AFTER PARTY. They planned an after party! It was like their own personal rave, complete with go-go dancers, fog machines, and a cold spark first dance. It was a mind blowing and the photos barely do it justice!
I would happily photograph couples like Alena and Dylan for the rest of my career. They were so fun to work with, and I was so impressed with how they planned their backyard wedding in Virginia. Enjoy some of the highlights from this dreamy wedding below!
