Fall Mini Sessions in Richmond, Virginia

As a family photographer near Richmond, VA I love taking advantage of all the beautiful places to photograph. The last fall mini session day for this year took place on the back lawn at the Virginia Fine Art Museum in Richmond, Virginia. It was a great chance for me to catch up with some of my past clients and a few new faces.

These sessions were taken on a cool Sunday morning at the quietest time of day for VMFA. This was a refresher from the previous day’s warm afternoon mini sessions in Old Town Alexandria, VA. Mini sessions last about fifteen minutes, which is perfect for little kids, new puppies, and sometimes husbands too. It may not seem like enough time for photos. However, for little kids, that can be so long when you’re being asked to stand tall and smile. Not to mention, fall mornings can be a tad chilly.

The Virginia Fine Art Museum in Richmond, VA is such an elevated setting that I think offers so much potential for every family’s outfit choices. There is no way this location is going to clash with your choice. it just can’t! We also had access to some of the last peak of fall colors in the city, helping the photos turn out just the way my clients dreamed they would.

One family showed up with the cutest 12 week old golden labradoodle that I could have taken home in a heartbeat! She was just so sweet and adored every move her human big brother made. Then, my best friend of a few years finally convinced her handsome boyfriend that it was time to get in front of my camera!

These mini sessions were so wonderful! It was great getting to capture these sessions at a new location for these new and returning families. As a Richmond, VA family photographer and mom myself, I know they grow so fast! But when you only see your clients a few times a year, it shows how fast time really flies. Getting family or couples portraits each year is so incredibly important for this exact reason!
