A morning nestled along the scenic shores of Virginia Beach. As a Virginia Family Photographer, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing the radiant Sayer family amidst the picturesque backdrop of sun-kissed sands and rolling waves. As the morning sun painted the beach with a warm, golden glow, it set the stage for an unforgettable session for these family photos on the beach. Love, laughter, and pure excitement filled the air as Catherine, Johnny, and their adorable son embraced the joyous anticipation of welcoming a new member to their family. With the gentle sound of crashing waves as our soundtrack, the Sayer family’s affectionate bond and their love for the beach created a heartwarming experience that will forever be etched in the sands of time.
Let me start by telling you a bit about this amazing family. Catherine and Johnny are two incredible parents! Johnny is a former Army man, and together, they share a deep love for the beach and all its magical vibes. When Catherine reached out to me, I was overjoyed to be a part of their journey once again, having previously captured their wedding and their maternity photos for their firstborn.
Memory Lane
The Sayer family had a special reason for this portrait session. With a new baby on the way in the winter, they wanted to capture these precious moments before officially becoming a family of four. It was a beautiful way to celebrate the joy and love they share as a family. When Catherine reached out to me, I was overjoyed to be a part of their journey once again, having previously captured their wedding and their maternity photos for their firstborn.
We chose to do the shoot at the beach, a place close to their hearts, and a location that held sentimental value for them. It was the same spot where we had taken their wedding photos back in 2020. With the beach being a public location, we planned to kick off our session early in the morning to beat the crowd of vacationers and capture the magical essence of summer on the sand.
The Perfect Day
On the day of the shoot, the weather was perfect! Warm and sunny, with a gentle breeze and just the right amount of clouds to create a soft, dreamy ambiance. We couldn’t have asked for a better setting to capture their family’s love and joy.
Catherine, being the expert coordinator she is, had thoughtfully chosen outfits for the entire family. She wore a beautiful and elegant white dress that perfectly complemented the navy blue outfits of her boys. The color coordination added a lovely touch and made the family look even more radiant.
During the session, we focused on creating a playful and entertaining atmosphere for their son. Catherine had warned me that he might put on a straight face for the camera. But I was determined to capture his genuine smiles. Starting by building a connection with him, letting him know I was there to have fun and enjoy the beach too. And soon enough, his laughter and smiles brightened up the entire session!
